How does it work?
Despite its name, diamond painting has nothing to do with actual painting. Diamond painting combines the paint by numbers style with sparkling stones; the end result is a glittering artwork, for example, for a home wall or as a cherished gift.
In diamond painting, shiny square-shaped diamonds are attached to the canvas in the designated areas. The canvas itself is already sticky, so for example, the use of glue or tape is not required in diamond painting. This makes it a very easy hobby, which also does not mess up home textiles like traditional painting sometimes might.
On the sticky canvas, symbols and color codes are printed in the paint by numbers style. So you don't need to be able to form the image in the package yourself; rather, the image forms automatically as you place the diamonds in their respective places.
Diamond painting instructions
1. Open the package and spread the contents evenly on a well-lit and clean surface. Also, unroll the included canvas and spread it on the table. If the canvas does not stay completely straight, you can place it, for example, under a heavy pile of books overnight to straighten it.
2. Remove the protective film from the area you intend to work on. However, do not remove the protective film from the entire work, as the protective film protects the rest of the sticky canvas from getting dirty during work.
3. Identify the first symbol in the working area. Then check the diamond number from the list.
4. Select the correct diamonds according to the number. The diamonds are packed by color, and each package has its own color number code.
5. Pour the diamonds into a container.
6. Open the wax jar.
7. Press the diamond pen tip tightly into the wax several times before picking up the first diamond. It is important that there is a sufficient amount of wax on the pen tip. You don't need to dip the pen into the wax between each diamond, as it remains sticky for quite a while. Tip: You can roll the pen tip from side to side in the wax to ensure that the tip is sufficiently filled with wax.
8. Pick up the diamond from the container so that its rounded side is facing upwards.
9. Place the diamond in the correct position on the base so that its flat side adheres tightly to the adhesive surface.
10. When you finish working, protect the work from dust and dirt with a protective film. You can also place the wax in a plastic bag to prevent it from drying out. To prevent the wax on the pen tip from drying, you can also wrap the pen tip in plastic for storage.
Tip: If the base fabric gets dirty during work, it can be cleaned by gently wiping with a damp cloth. However, avoid scrubbing and always use only cold water for cleaning.
Finishing the work
When you have completed the work, you can further secure the diamonds' adhesion as follows: spread a protective film over the diamonds and gently roll over the finished work, for example, with a rolling pin. This way, the diamonds adhere better and more evenly to the adhesive surface.
For storage, roll the work gently with the pattern facing inward, and store it in a dry and cool place. If desired, you can also frame the beautiful piece or give it as a gift.
